An old hot tub is one of the hardest things a homeowner can try to get rid of: it’s enormous, waterlogged, full of foam insulation, and far too heavy to move in one piece. We remove hot tubs and spas across San Jose by cutting them down into manageable sections on-site, hauling every piece out, and leaving the pad or deck area clean — usually in a single visit, without a crane.

What we don’t take: Have the tub drained and the power disconnected before we arrive if possible — we don’t do licensed electrical disconnects on a hardwired 240V spa, so that final wiring pull should be handled by an electrician for safety.
Hot tub removal doesn’t fit the standard by-the-truckload junk pricing, and here’s why: a spa is deceptively heavy and labor-intensive. The acrylic shell is wrapped around thick foam that holds water long after you drain it, the cabinet and equipment have to come apart, and the whole thing usually has to be cut into pieces just to get it out of a fenced San Jose back yard. It’s an hour or two of saw work and heavy lifting before anything even reaches the truck.
Access is the other variable. A tub on an open driveway is a quick job; one sunk into a raised deck, behind a narrow gate, or up a hillside Los Gatos-style lot takes more time and care. That’s why we quote spas individually after a quick look or a few photos — you get a firm flat price for your specific tub and yard, with the cutting, hauling, and cleanup all included, rather than a vague estimate that balloons on the day.
Almost never. We remove the vast majority of San Jose hot tubs by cutting the shell and cabinet into sections on-site with saws, then carrying the pieces out by hand. That avoids the cost and access problems of a crane and lets us get tubs out of fenced yards, off decks, and around tight side yards that a crane could never reach. It helps — please drain it and disconnect the power ahead of time if you safely can. A drained tub is lighter and cleaner to cut, and the power needs to be off before we touch it. If it’s hardwired 240V, have an electrician do the final disconnect; we’ll handle everything from cut-down to haul-away and cleanup once it’s safe.
It’s quoted per tub, because size, foam saturation, and yard access drive the labor. A standard above-ground spa on an accessible patio is at the lower end; a large in-deck tub behind a narrow gate or up a slope costs more because of the extra cut-down and carry.
